Today was Yom Shchunot in camp. The chanichim of Eidah Hey learned about the different neighborhoods of Yerushalayim and built their own creative dioramas depicting well-known areas of Yerushalayim.

During the siege around Yerushalayim in 1948, the Burma Road was paved in order to help bring supplies and food to the residents living in Yerushalayim. Today in camp, Eidah Gimmel faced-off in the Burma Road cook-off. With their limited funds and supplies, they were challenged to create a delicious and creative meal for our Moshava judges.

Today in camp, the famous Tzaddik of Yerushalayim – Rav Arye Levine – visited camp. The chanichim learned about how Rav Aryeh Levin was a great example of Chessed. They visited our chessed stand, and committed to a personal act of chessed that they could implement in camp. 

Also today, the chanichim of Mini Mosh participated in a Yerushalayim themed activity and built the Old City of Yerushalayim out of Lego!

Today in camp the boys of Eidah Bet learned about Teddy Kollek, the former mayor of Yerushalayim who served for 28 years and 5 terms. There are many establishments that are named after Teddy Kollek, one of them being Teddy Stadium. The chanichim joined us at our own Teddy Stadium and played a soccer game with a giant soccer ball.

We had a great day. Eidah Gimmel left camp and went to a sports field to compete in different games with each other.  Unfortunately we don’t have pictures of the games but we were able to get some pictures of them as they were boarding the busses.

We are looking forward to a nice Shabbat in camp. Shabbat Shalom!

Today on Yom Landmarks, Eidah Bet went on the Jerusalem Light Rail and toured Yerushalayim. They stopped in Meah Shearim and tasted some delicacies, became members of the Knesset and debated an important issue, built an arch at the Churban Shul, visited the Israel Museum and ate ice cream topped with whipped cream that looked just like the Shrine of the Book. They ended off the activity visiting our Mifletzet water slide. It was a great Yerushalayim experience!
