We packed in the morning so we could enjoy the activities in the afternoon.  After dinner we gathered the whole camp together for our final mifkad of the session. It was a great end to an amazing month.

 

For our last full day of activities of first session we had all Eidot back in camp! The weather is beautiful and the sounds of laughter and happiness fill the air as we start to get ready for shabbat . Shabbat Shalom!

Today was an exciting day for the Chanichim! After a pause over the last few years, six camps got together for a day filled with sports, friendly competition, and Achdut during Intercamps! Eidah Hey headed off to Camp Nesher,  Eidah Aleph to Camp Seneca Lake, Eidah Bet to Camp Lavi, Eidah Daled to Camp Mesorah, and Machal to Camp Morasha, while Eidah Gimmel had the privilege of welcoming their friends to our very own Camp Moshava!

 

Today is Yom Israeli Sport. Eidah Gimmel reviewed Israel’s greatest moments in sport, including their Olympic medals, the success of the Israeli baseball team in the 2020 Olympics, the Israel national under-19 soccer team’s success in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and more! To highlight these moments, they played a wacky game of hoop-hat basketball as well as rock-paper-scissors baseball.

 

Today we celebrate Yom Omanut Yisraelit. The topic of this day is the art and culture of Israel, with a particular focus on Anna Ticho.  Anna Ticho moved to Yerushalayim in 1912, at the age of 18. She fell in love with Yerushalayim and her art depicts the landscapes and views she saw around the city. Her art is well-known and is found in major museums around the world. Together with Melechet Yad, the chanichim are creating artwork inspired by Anna Ticho’s work. They are painting landscapes mimicking her style.

 

 

Today is Yom HaMossad! Eidah Hey learned about 2 covert operations that were secretly carried out by the Mossad, Operation Yachin and the story of the Ethiopian aliyah and the Red Sea Diving Resort. The chanichim acted as Mossad Agents, trying to help gather the olim back to Israel in an active game of life-sized Hungry Hippos! They then made origami planes that symbolized the planes taking the olim back to Israel.

 

Today is Gibbushon! The Eidot each received their team names representing different elements of Moshevet Hamedina. Eidah Hey, Team Hagana, represents the IDF and defending the land. Eidah Aleph, Team Tarbut, represents the Israeli artists, singers, architects and athletes of Israel. Eidah Bet, Team Mada, represents science, technology and Israeli innovation. Eidah Gimmel, Team Haskala, represents the scholars, the Torah teachers, and the wise people of Israel. Lastly, Eidah Daled, Team Areyvut, represents the core values of Israel,  to help others and extend a generous hand to all. 

 

After a week full of Eidot trips and Eidot Bet and Gimmel out on their chutz, everyone was back in camp today having fun.

 

Today was Yom Movil Artzi. The chanichim of Eidah Hey learned about the different water sources in Israel and the challenges of transferring water to different areas in Israel. They learned about the National Water Carrier and how today, most drinkable water in Israel is taken from desalinated water. The chanichim made their own Movil Artzi. They also made their own water filters.

 

Today is Yom Shira Yisraelit, a day about Israeli song. Over the past couple of days,  our music staff has been teaching the stories behind the songs “Chai”, Amen and our anthem, Hatikva. Tonight,  Eidot Aleph and Bet will battle it out  singing Israeli songs, competing for the title of the winner of  IO-Shirio.
