This summer’s theme is Moshevet Achim. Achim means unity and represents the unity the nation felt this past year. Achim is also an acronym. The Mem in Achim stands for Medina. This week will represent the modern State of Israel and the fusion of all three of the earlier principles, Achrayut, Chessed/Chevra and Yesodot.

 

Today Eidah Bet learned about the Be’eri Printing Press and how central it is to Kibbutz Be’eri and to the State of Israel. They understood that after the events of October 7th,  Dfus Be’eri became a symbol of strength and hope in difficult times. In the spirit of the printing press, the chanichim learned how to make their own paper from recycled paper, and in spirit of the photobooks made in the dfus, the chanichim got to take a snapshot of their time in our Dfus Be’eri.

 

Today in camp, we are taking part in the global initiative “Week of Goodness” for the merit of the release of the hostages. Eidot Hey, Daled and Tzevet had the opportunity to visit our station and receive a lollipop. They could then either give it to a friend to sweeten their day, give it to someone that they don’t know and make a new friend, or make a bracha on the lollipop.

 

Today, Eidah Aleph learned about the Israeli Air Force and their major contribution to the security of Israel, specifically over this past year. They practiced different skills needed in the IAF including accurate aim, working together and quick identification of small details.

 

Today was Gibbushon! Each team got a team name related to the theme of the summer. Team Reut, Otzma, Nedivut, Netzach and Zechut battled it out for the title. Stay tuned for the winners!

It represents the basis of the connection between Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Hashem promised Eretz Yisrael to Avraham Avinu. Throughout history, Hashem continues to remind us of this promise, that we will be a nation living in our homeland. This is not just a promise of our past, but is a daily reminder that Eretz Yisrael is our homeland now and forever.

 

Eidah Gimmel learned about the Osem factory which was moved to Sderot to promote industry in the south. Osem created a fund worth millions of shekels to support the residents of the city of Sderot after the events of October 7th. Eidah Gimmel participated in a “Chopped” style challenge, in which they got a box of mystery “Osem” products and were required to use them to create delicious dishes for the judges. 

 

Today was Yom Am Hanetzach. Chanichim learned how Am Yisrael is a chosen nation and we are not afraid of the long journey to fulfill our destiny (מדרך ארוכה).

 

Today is Yom Tikva. In camp, we talk about the importance of not losing hope and continuing to see the everyday miracles, even in these difficult times.

 

Today, Eidah Hey visited our Kibbutz Fair. They learned about 5 kibbutzim in the Western Negev and how each of them contribute to the Israeli economy and agriculture. At Kibbutz Sa’ad, they enjoyed popcorn while hearing about Popli, the popcorn factory. At Kibbutz Alumim, they heard about their massive chicken coop and its contribution to the country. Then they moved on to Kibbutz Yad Mordechai where honey and olive oil are made. At Kibbutz Zikim, while learning about the avocados that are grown there, they made nachos. At their last stop, the chanichim heard about the juicers made in Kibbutz Holit and made freshly squeezed juice. It was a great day!
