Today, the chanichim learned about the Jewish National Fund, also known as Keren Kayemet Le’Yisrael. It was founded in 1901 in the Third Zionist Congress. They understood how at first, the main goal was to purchase land in Eretz Yisrael. They then directed their efforts into developing the land. They planted trees and built infrastructure for housing, parks and recreation areas. Today, the JNF continues to develop the land with a focus on preserving the environment, conserving natural resources and working on ways to alleviate Israel’s chronic water shortage.
The chanichim of Eidah Gimmel hydro dipped their own planters, made macramé plant hangers and planted succulents which they then displayed in their bunk.
