July 4 – Yom Burma Road

During 1948, the city of Jerusalem was under siege. Today we learned how Mickey Marcus and his troops cleared a makeshift winding bypass road, around the main road to Jerusalem. This opened up the besieged city to aid, food and supplies. Today, chanichim had a fun cook-off activity in which they learned the difficult obstacles on the Burma Road all the way to the walls of the Old City. Once they get their all of their supplies to their stations, they started cooking.  It smelled delicious!
